GoPro’s funky yet rugged high-definition video cameras, long the favorite of adventurous amateur videographers, is becoming quite popular with professional filmmakers, too. According to a recent Wall Street Journal article, the equipment manager for shows such as “Deadliest Catch” and “Ice Road Truckers” bought 200 GoPros last year, and 75 already this year.
Many of my auto racing colleagues love the GoPro HD Motorsports HERO Camera, which mounts securely on many surfaces without scratching them. Its protective case can take a beating, and the video quality is surprisingly good and vibration-free. We’ll review it after we hit the track.
